Whirlpool styles will vary depending on the space available in a given bathroom. Alcove whirlpool tubs and drop-in whirlpool bathtubs are the most popular styles and will be able to accommodate the majority of bathrooms. When choosing between the two whirlpool styles, consider both the size and shape of the tub. Whirlpool sizes and shapes will affect the way angle of jets and the overall experience.
Alcove Whirlpool Tubs
Alcove whirlpool tubs closely resemble standard or clawfoot bathtubs. Sometimes referred to as skirted tubs, alcove bathtubs and whirlpools are installed between three walls of a bathroom. On the exposed side, alcove whirlpool tubs have a removable apron in order to allow access to the motor and pump for maintenance and cleaning. Alcove baths can also be in the corner of a bathroom. While the alcove design is not ideal for multi person whirlpools, the corner alcove design will give the most versatility in choosing a larger whirlpool tub.
Drop In Whirlpool Tubs
Drop-in whirlpool tubs are often built into an elevated platform or built into the floor which allows the ledge of the tub to be flush with the floor. The drop-in style of whirlpool can offer the most flexibility for sizes and shapes of whirlpools. Shapes can range from oval, rectangle, kidney, diamond and even hearts. Drop-in whirlpools also have more options of where to place the motor and the settings and adjustments panel.
