Glass sinks come in many different finishes. At Bath & Kitchen Studio, we have tempered, frosted, artistic, textured, and colored glass. Below, you will find a guide to help you decide which glass sink finish is right for you.

Frosted

Glass is frosted after an etching process. The glass is sandblasted until it has an opaque appearance. When it gets wet, the glass is transparent. However, it returns to its original frosted look when it dries. Glass can also be etched so that it has a patterned appearance as opposed to the frosted look. At Bath & Kitchen Studio, we have a variety of frosted and etched glass sinks in an array of colors.
Tempered

Tempered glass is processed by heat so that is becomes stronger. The glass is heated to 1202 degrees Fahrenheit and it begins to soften. Then, it is cooled with high velocity blasts of air. This process makes it approximately five times stronger than Annealed glass.
Although tempered glass is stronger than regular glass, it will still break. The difference is that it will break into blunt pieces and not sharp ones.
If you want any detailing or holes cut into the tempered glass, it must be done before the glass is tempered. The glass will shatter if any work is done on it after it is tempered.
Textured /Artistic

To create patterns and textures on glass, it is heated to an extremely high temperature and then molded to achieve the desire shape and pattern.
Colored

Bath & Kitchen Studio offers a variety of colored glass sinks. To achieve the vibrant color, metal oxides are added to the powdered mixture and then melted to create glass.
The most common glass color/metal ingredients are listed below:
Blue: Cobalt Oxide
Green: Iron
Cranberry: Gold
Red: Cadmium and Selenium
Uncommon colors such as purple are created in glass factories from a specific mixture of a variety of precious metals such as gold and silver.
