From bathroom sinks to kitchen sinks, from stainless steel sinks to Silgranit sinks, Blanco has the style and quality you demand at a price you can live with. An industry leader for over 80 years, Blanco makes quality sinks with an eye for design that will please for years to come.
Undermount, Self Rimming, and Apron Front Sinks
One of the most popular styles of Blanco sinks is their undermount sink. The undermount sink sits flush underneath your countertop, creating a stunning recessed look. The sink is mounted to the bottom of your countertop and then caulked to create an attractive and effective waterproof seal. You can easily wipe crumbs or food scraps off your countertop by pushing them directly into the sink since there's no rim or lip for them to get caught on.
Blanco also makes sinks in the other two popular styles: self rimming and apron. Self-rimming sinks have a lip around the sink and allow you to simply set the sink into an appropriate sized hole. Their ease of installation has made them the most popular style of sink. The other style of sink, an apron front sink, has a finished front that is not meant to be covered by your cabinet. Apron front sinks make a big impression and can really set your kitchen apart if you're able to plan your counters around them.
Stainless Steel Sinks
Blanco's most popular sinks are their stainless steel kitchen sinks. In addition to simply looking great, stainless steel provides a number of benefits. A high quality stainless steel sink will neither rust, fade, chip, nick, nor crack like porcelain, composite, and cast iron sinks can. Stainless steel sinks can also give a little more than porcelain or glass, so you have a bit more leeway if you drop a plate into the sink. A sink that uses high quality steel will also be durable and corrosion resistant. All Blanco sinks use premium 304 series stainless steel, a surgical grade stainless steel which is non-porous, hygienic, rust-free and extremely tough.
When choosing a stainless steel sink, it's also important to make sure that the steel has an appropriate thickness. The thickness is called the gauge, and the smaller the number the thicker the steel. Although you can find residential sinks in as thin as 22 gauge, we recommend 18 or 20 gauge stainless steel sinks. An 18 gauge sink is ample for most residential use. Having a thicker steel sink will make your sink more resistant to dents if you accidentally drop a pan, and will also reduce noise and vibrations making it a bit more pleasant to wash pots and pans in. All of Blanco's sinks are 18 gauge stainless steel, except for the Blancospex series which uses 20 gauge steel to balance price and performance.
Blanco Silgranit Sinks
Blanco also makes sinks using Silgranit, their own proprietary composite material. Silgranit starts with 80% natural granite, providing the quality and toughness that only mother nature can provide. The granite is then mixed with an acrylic resin, making the sink more durable and allowing the material to be molded into eye-catching designs in a variety of attractive colors.
Not only is Silgranit good looking and made with environmentally friendly, recyclable raw materials, it performs great too. Its' hard surface is resistant to chipping, can withstand extreme changes between hot and cold, and is unaffected by acids and alkalis typically found in the home. Silgranit is non-porous, so it doesn't absorb odors or bacteria and is resistant to most household stains. All these factors combine to make a sink that is as tough as it is stylish.
Cleaning Your Blanco Sink
To clean your Blanco sink, we recommend using the blancoclean sink cleaner. This stainless steel formula allows your sink to retain its original luster for years to come. It is non-abrasive, making it perfect for regular use on all of your stainless appliances. The Silgranit cleaner is specially formulated for composite sinks and will prevent the buildup of lime and other minerals while preserving your sink's original color.
Blanco pioneered the use of stainless steel and hard composite sinks in the kitchen. They have continued this tradition of quality and innovation for over 55 years, offering a wide range of great looking sinks to fit any kitchen décor.
